Leveraging Technology for a Better Tomorrow

IEEE Day is celebrated every year on the first Tuesday of October. For 2020 this is happening on October 6th. During this day we celebrate the first gathering in history when engineers worldwide and IEEE members gathered to share their technical ideas in 1884.

Going back to the pre-COVID-19 period, IEEE Day was the most exciting event for all grades of IEEE membership, with the highest excitement we would say it was coming from the student members. Technical presentations, educational activities, humanitarian activities, parties, BBQs, with the list going on for the countless ideas IEEE members had to celebrate this special day. However, this year even the excitement is still high, the IEEE Day celebration will be different, as the pandemic continues and health and safety are a priority for everyone.

We have already seen that nothing can stop IEEE members from continuing their activities, finding alternative ways to achieve them during this sensitive and unique time we are going through , such as turning their activities online. We are living the virtual reality of IEEE Region 8 where the most engaged congress for Young Professionals and Student members, changed its form, having the first virtual SYP in Region 8.

Already, numerous events for the IEEE Day celebration have been submitted from all over the world, showing how big and important for all IEEE members this celebration is. Using Social Media, online meeting and broadcasting tools, this celebration will once again turn big, and all IEEE members will get connected to inspire everyone by Leveraging Technology for a Better Tomorrow.

Set an alarm for October 6th, to wish everyone a happy IEEE Day 2020
