Piscataway, NJ, USA  12  October 2020 –  IEEE, the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for humanity, has created new volunteer opportunities for IEEE Collabratec, the organization’s community and collaboration platform.

According to John Day, IEEE Director of Member Products & Programs, growing interest and participation in IEEE Collabratec is producing inquiries from Members on how they can get involved.

We have been carefully reviewing volunteering opportunities that will pass along valuable ‘soft skills’ to our Members, and have identified near-term opportunities for program ambassadors and community moderators,” said Day.  “We are moving forward with the program ambassador opportunities this month.

The volunteer ambassador opportunity for IEEE Collabratec seeks to provide Members with the following skills and benefits:

  • Persuasive communications and presentations
  • Team building across different cultures
  • Online project coordination between multiple teams
  • Confidence building
  • Online community management and facilitation
  • Increased knowledge of IEEE
  • Expanded professional network in the engineering and technology community

Candidates for the Ambassador program will be offered comprehensive training. Those who successfully complete the training program will receive ongoing support through online communities, program staff guidance, and professionally-produced presentations and videos.

IEEE Region 8 is among IEEE’s largest Regions. As such, the Collabratec program has created volunteering opportunities spanning the geographic areas of Europe, Middle East, and Africa.  Those opportunities are now listed on the new IEEE Volunteering portal, presently in beta release, and accessible from the following links.
