The first badge related to the challenge has been earned in IEEE Region 8

IEEE Collabratec is an online community platform for technology professionals and just a few months ago IEEE Collabratec had launched the Sections Gateway available exclusively to IEEE members, showcasing local networks, activities, and opportunities.  Today, a new launch is being announced. IEEE Discover Badge, the first in a series of online, interactive journeys recognizing discovery and participation in the organization.

The three-part badge series is a first of its kind initiative that introduces individuals to the support and resources available from IEEE, while also offering recognition to those who contribute their thoughts and ideas around topics important to them and the STEM professions.

“I loved the holistic approach to the Discover Badge,” said Pruthvi Katta, a Member and badge recipient from India. “Earning badges through Collabratec makes me feel unique and I am pleased to find this professional network.”

Participation in the challenge is open to all engineering and technology professionals at no cost, with special benefits for IEEE Members who participate. The challenge will be hosted on IEEE Collabratec, the organization’s community and collaboration platform, and run through December to provide flexibility for participation.  

IEEE is encouraging participation across its global network. Beyond individual achievement, the badge challenge will recognize IEEE Sections whose Members are successful in completing the badge journeys. Recognition of IEEE’s Sections will be conferred in August, and again in December.

Hayes Lewis, a Senior IEEE member from Fort Worth, Texas, USA reported that participation in the badge journey, introduced him to someone with common interests he would not have met otherwise.

Already the first badge related to the challenge has been earned in IEEE Region 8, and the  member achieved the badge is from the IEEE United Kingdom & Ireland Section.
