IEEE member Antonio Luque has been chosen as 2019 – 2020 IEEE Region 8 Director-elect. He will begin serving as IEEE Region 8 Director on 1 January 2021. Antonio, received 4993 votes in the election and Rafal Sliz received 4703 votes.
The results are unofficial until the IEEE Tellers Committee report is accepted by the IEEE Board of Directors in November.
Bellow are the first comments of the two candidates after the announcement of the election results
Antonio, stated:
“Thanks for the trust that the membership has given to me, and congratulations to Rafal Sliz for a great campaign. I hope to work for our members, counting with everyone who wishes to participate, in the coming years.”
Rafal stated:
“I would like to congratulate Antonio’s election to the position of IEEE Region 8 Director, and I wish him good luck on his journey. At the same time, I would like to say big thank you to all my IEEE friends and supporters. Without you, IEEE would not be the same. Lack of success opens thousands of new opportunities and as my good old friend would say: stay loose and keep thinking positive.”
This was indeed a very nice campaign that let the two candidates describe their plans for IEEE in detail.
