IEEE UAE Section has hold the 2018 Annual General Meeting on Saturday 24th November 2018 in presence of the Executive Committee members, IEEE and Student members.
At the beginning, the IEEE UAE Section chair – Dr. Essa Basaeed has presented the accomplishments of the section from its foundation and the challenges it has faced in focus on the achievements of 2018 like the increase number of members, joining some chapters and the events done last year.
After that, he has honored the senior members with 25 years or more IEEE membership.
Finally, the new executive committee has been announced.

Dr. Fatma Taher (Chair)
Dr. Fatma Taher is assistant dean in the College of Technological Innovation and the CEO of Happiness and Wellbeing at Zayed University, Dubai, UAE. Her research interests are in the areas of signal and image processing, pattern recognition, artificial intelligent, medical image analysis, especially in detecting of the cancerous cells, kidney transplant and autism. In addition to that, watermarking, remote sensing and satellite images researches. She received her PhD from Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research, UAE, in 2014. So that she is the first UAE local that graduated with PhD in Engineering inside the UAE, and Khalifa University considered as the first University to grant PhD degrees in computer engineering. Dr. Fatma Taher has published more than 50 papers in international Journals and conferences. She served as a member of the steering, organizing and technical program committees of many international conferences, and has served on many editorial and reviewing boards of international journals and conferences. Dr. Fatma is the chair of IEEE UAE section. Dr. Fatma has received many distinguished awards such as: Prize for the best PhD excellence Award in leadership day for Khalifa University, 12th February 2012. Best paper award in the BCS International IT Conference Towards 21st Century Innovations, Abu Dhabi, UAE, 31st March-1st April 2013. Best paper award of the first prize in the PhD Forum of the 20th IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits, and Systems (ICECS), PhD Forum, Dec. 8-11, 2013. And recently, she was awarded the UAE Pioneers award as the first UAE to create a computer aided diagnosis system for early lung cancer detection based on the sputum color image analysis, awarded by H.H Sheik Mohammed Bin Rashed Al Maktoum, 15th Nov. 2015. In addition to that she was awarded an innovation award at the 2016 Emirati Women Awards by H. H. Sheik Ahmed Bin Saeed Al-Maktoum. Chairman of Civil Aviation Authority and Patron of Dubai Quality Group and L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women In Science Middle East Fellowship 2017.

Eng Adeel Sultan (Vice-chair & Chair-elect)
Adeel is a seasoned microelectronics & telecommunications engineer with over 20 years of experience in leading/managing the High-Technology, R&D and Smart-Education related projects. He is an IEEE Senior Member, a certified PMP, CIPM, MPM and a Fellow of American Association of Projects Management. Adeel have worked with major international companies worldwide and is currently the Director of Projects at Etisalat/UAE. As part of his work, Adeel has led major semiconductor R&D projects, pioneered many business process enhancements tools, developed various unique portfolio management systems, implemented complex knowledge sharing platforms and have successfully delivered numerous multi-million dollar programs. As a technology enthusiast and professional, he regularly speaks at various events & forums and is a part of various technical/editorial boards and innovation committees. He has also served in different positions within committees responsible for the development & enhancement of cutting edge educational technologies and on advisory boards for technical events and seminars. Adeel is also a regional volunteer-warden at the Canadian Consulate in UAE and an active member of various professional organizations, including IEEE & PMI.

Dr. Hussam Al-Hammadi (Secretary):
Dr. Al Hammadi has studied computer engineering at Ajman University where he graduated in 2005. He spent the period between 2005 and 2010 working as a computer consultant and tutor in several governmental and private institutions to eventually joined Khalifa University as a teaching assistant in 2010. In 2017, he received the Ph.D. in computer engineering from Khalifa University, where he is currently a post-doctoral fellow in their Center for Cyber-Physical Systems (C2PS). His research interests focus on applied security protocols for several systems like; software agents, SCADA, e-health systems and autonomous vehicles. He is also working on developing e-forensics methodologies for smartphones and drones. He is an IEEE member and the director of its Teaching-In-Service program in the UAE. He is a frequent reviewer in several journals including; IEEE Access and IEEE Systems Journal.

An Electrical Engineer with passion to learn new things everyday. About 4 years of research experience in academia and now moved to industry to conquer new horizons. Volunteering with IEEE since 8 years with aim to serve humanity in any possible way
