Stepping into the role of Chair of R8 IEEE Women in Engineering is both an honor and a responsibility that I embrace with passion and commitment. My journey in STEM has been shaped by curiosity, resilience, and a strong belief in the power of community. With a background as an engineer and R&D specialist, and now as a university lecturer in computer science working with international students, I have seen first-hand how mentorship, collaboration, and visibility can transform careers and open doors.
This year, my goal is to build a stronger, more inclusive WIE community by working alongside a diverse and dedicated committee. Together, we will create more opportunities for mentorship, leadership development, and meaningful collaborations across technical societies, industry, and academia. I want to ensure that every voice is heard, every achievement is celebrated, and every aspiring engineer feels empowered to reach their full potential.
Additionally, I want to reach out to young girls, students, and early-career professionals, showing them not only the challenges but also the incredible success stories of women in STEM. I want them to see that they belong here, that their dreams are valid, and that they can achieve anything they set their minds to.
Empower, Elevate, Expand, because visibility drives impact, and impact shapes the future.
This is not just a motto; it is the driving force behind everything I hope to achieve this year. Together, through collaboration and advocacy, we can shape a more inclusive, innovative, and inspiring future for all.
